The Case for Boil'em, Mash'em, Stick'em in a Stew (6):
As Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Samwise (Sean Astin) rest at camp, Smeagol (Andy Serkis) returns with some freshly caught meat - and has a strong reaction to Sam's insistence on cooking it. During their back and forth, Sam wishes for some potatoes to go with it - and birthed an Internet meme while wistfully listing ways to prepare them.
The Case for The Nicest Kids in Town:
In this early number, we are introduced to the show that will drive the action of the entire movie: The Corny Collins Show. Filled with character beats the pay dividends later, we see how enthusiastic Tracy (Nikki Blonsky) is for the show, hear hints about Penny's (Amanda Bynes) mother and how strict she is, see how the cast at large reacts to both Link (Zac Efron) and Amber (Brittany Snow), and get an introduction to Edna Turnblad (John Travolta), Tracy's mom. Quite a bit of work for an intro song.
