The vote total for the Take On Me vs. Barbie Girl match was the highest of any match in the tournament, and the lead shift multiple times throughout the day. When I last checked the score, it was a 17-17 tie, which I thought would be the final result.
However, when I went to check the totals this morning, we had a 19-17 result. Looking into the stats for this poll (because I am a bit of a stat nerd), I made a startling discovery. Voting shenanigans had occurred!
Nothing major, mind you, just a bunch of votes all coming from the same locations. My guess is that only two people engaged in gaming the system, but they did it enough that 19-17 ended up not being the final score.
This is a rough guess, since I wasn't willing to pay money to get the required details to confirm just how many extra votes were cast, but using what tools I had available, it looks like the final score was....
14-14.... a tie.
Rather than have the matchup occur again, I decided I'd rather have co-champions. So congrats to our TWO winners!
